Time synchronization requirements in the petrochemical industry. Saisi NTP time servers provide plant-wide time synchronization for Yulong Petrochemical, supporting the Yulong Island Refining & Chemical Integration Project.

With a total investment of 149.3 billion yuan, Phase I of the Yulong Island Refining & Chemical Integration Project is one of the largest single industrial investment projects in Shandong Province to date. The project is implemented in two phases. Phase I uses imported crude oil as raw material to build a 20-million-tonne-per-year refining unit, a 3-million-tonne-per-year mixed aromatics unit, a 3-million-tonne-per-year ethylene unit, as well as deep-processing units for gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, ethylene glycol, HDPE, UHMWPE, PP, EVA/LDPE, butadiene rubber, integrated rubber and ABS.

Upon completion, the Yulong Island Project will become a world-class large-scale petrochemical complex. Amid continuous growth in global refining and chemical capacity, only large-scale facilities, integrated refining-chemical operations and industrial clustering can achieve sustainable development.

Petroleum refining generally involves multiple processes such as atmospheric and vacuum distillation, catalytic cracking, delayed coking, hydrocracking, solvent deasphalting, hydrotreating and catalytic reforming. These process units are closely interconnected and interactive, requiring massive data transmission and exchange.

Inconsistent time among operating systems or between operating systems and front-end computer control systems will lead to data deviation and disorder, compromising the accuracy and reliability of production, causing resource waste and ultimately reducing production line capacity.

Achieving time synchronization across all systems enables timely detection and handling of anomalies, preventing accidents and their escalation, thereby enhancing production safety. In practice, petrochemical plants can deploy one or more sets of time synchronization servers to unify system time and control clock errors at the millisecond level.

A time synchronization server takes received GPS signals as its standard clock source and distributes time to the aforementioned independent networks through its network output interfaces, realizing time synchronization across systems and providing strong assurance for the safe and stable operation of petrochemical plants.

The product provided by Saisi to Yulong Petrochemical is the TS3000 Series NTP Time Server. Equipped with an internal GPS receiver, it uses GPS signals as the time reference and synchronizes all computers, servers, DVRs, NVRs, controllers and other devices on the network via the NTP/SNTP protocol, ensuring unified time for network equipment.
