Saisi 32.768kHz Passive Crystals: Ultra-Low Power RTC Timing for Battery-Powered Devices

Battery-operated electronic products demand ultra-low standby power consumption to extend service life, and RTC real-time clock is the core timing subsystem. Saisi 32.768kHz passive crystal resonators are specially engineered for RTC modules, widely adopted in wearables, smart meters, asset trackers and portable sensing equipment across global markets.

32.768kHz is the standard frequency for RTC circuits because dividing this frequency by 2^15 generates accurate 1Hz time pulse for second counting. Passive XTAL for RTC works together with RTC chip oscillator circuits. Unlike active timing modules, it consumes negligible power during sleep mode, which directly reduces battery drain and prolongs product working time.

Saisi RTC passive crystals adopt tuning-fork quartz cutting technology. Our manufacturing process controls ultra-low equivalent series resistance, ensuring stable oscillation under tiny drive power. We offer multiple load capacitance options including 6pF,7pF,9pF and12.5pF to match different RTC IC requirements. Package selections include compact SMD 2012, 3215 and cylindrical metal packages, supporting ultra-thin product casing design.

Temperature stability is critical for RTC crystals. Cheap tuning-fork crystals may suffer severe frequency shift when temperature fluctuates, causing time drift and calendar error after months of operation. Saisi grade screening ensures frequency stability within tight ppm range across full operating temperature range. Long-term aging rate is strictly controlled, so time error stays minimal over years of continuous running.

Many customers encounter production issues: crystal cracking after reflow soldering, high failure rate in thermal cycling test, or time deviation after long storage. Saisi implements hermetic sealing and stress relief process. Every finished crystal passes thermal shock, vibration and aging burn-in test before packaging. We also provide reflow profile recommendation to help customers avoid thermal damage during PCB assembly.

For smart meter and utility IoT clients, long-term reliability is non-negotiable. Meters may stay installed outdoors for 5~10 years with limited maintenance. Saisi 32.768kHz passive XTAL maintains timing accuracy in cold winter and hot summer, reducing field service cost caused by RTC failure. Asset tracking tags powered by coin cells also benefit greatly: low power consumption enables multi-year battery life.

Our global technical team supports customers from prototype phase. We can help select proper CL value, evaluate layout influence from PCB stray capacitance, and validate timing precision in environmental chambers. Custom marking and special tolerance grades are available for large volume orders.

If your design requires precise real-time clock with microamp-level power budget, Saisi 32.768kHz passive crystal resonator is a mature, field-proven timing solution. Contact our sales team to request samples and qualification documents for your next battery-powered device project.
